Meet the Organizations

  • 1st Way Pregnancy Resource Center

For many in our community the journey through pregnancy and early parenting is marked by uncertainty, financial strain, and emotional challenges. 1st Way Pregnancy Resource Center helps bridge these gaps by delivering essential items and services without cost or judgement. Northwood is happy to help 1st Way Pregnancy Resource Center to provide car seats, clothing, and shoes. Car seats cannot be given away unless they are new, quickly taking up funds, and clothing and shoes are needed constantly for children who grow so fast.

  • CAFA

CAFA is a nonprofit mental health agency with a mission to create safer environments for children by equipping adults with the knowledge and skills to parent, partner, and live more effectively. Rooted in the Christian belief of serving others, CAFA provides mental health counseling and community outreach services. CAFA recently led a parenting class as part of Northwood’s Wednesday program, The Gathering. We are now giving back to CAFA to help them meet the needs for parenting education in our community by manualizing and producing their parenting education curriculum which merges best practices in parenting with spiritual formation principles and family discipleship structures, including a video series and web-based series and workbooks to reduce barriers to services.

  • Crown of Life Discipleship Ministries

Crown of Life Discipleship Ministries exists to disciple believers to grow in Christ through a variety of means. CLDM is an umbrella ministry that encourages, mentors, and equips Christ-followers through teaching, leadership development, writing, media, retreats, and other discipleship opportunities. The Called Initiative is one ministry within CLDM that exists to disciple, equip, and mentor Christian women for leadership in the Church and world. Northwood is excited to support an upcoming cohort of 12 women Christian leaders through The Called Initiative to help cover the cost of the program, including teaching, mentoring, in-person retreats and training, technology, materials, professional headshots and speaker videos, and assistance with travel or childcare when needed.

  • Every Child Lane County

Every Child Lane County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and families with a specific emphasis on those impacted by foster care. In collaboration with Oregon's Department of Human Services, Every Child provides pathways for individuals, businesses, churches, and civic groups to use their unique talents and resources to uplift children and families—demonstrating the power of collective action to create lasting change in the lives of children in our community. Northwood is helping Every Child to continue calling more people to step forward for children and families impacted by foster care. Northwood’s gift is helping build outreach, relationship-building, foster parent and volunteer recruitment, community presentations, and meaningful opportunities for people to take their first step.

  • Everyone Village

Everyone Village exists to create places of belonging, purpose, and possibility for people experiencing homelessness and housing instability. On 3.5 acres in west Eugene, Everyone Village has grown into a unique community centered around 70 tiny-home emergency shelters.
Everyone Village is preparing to build the first homes in our new MicroVillage Housing neighborhood—a deeply affordable permanent-housing community being developed alongside our existing Village. Each home costs approximately $50,000 to build and Northwood's gift is being dedicated directly toward constructing one of these first homes.

  • One’s Purpose

One's Purpose exists to shine light on sex trafficking, by spreading awareness and providing education to our community and beyond to help meet the needs of sex trafficking victims. It supports survivors through mentorship and relationship with the end goal of reintegration and empowering survivors and reminding them they are not victims but victorious. One’s Purpose has an immediate need to help prepare the 35-acre Restoration Campus to welcome its first residents. This includes essential renovations, safety improvements, furnishings, supplies, and spaces created for healing, mentorship, and restoration.

  • ShelterCare

ShelterCare's mission is to provide compassionate housing and behavioral health services to individuals and families wanting a safe and stable home in our community. Their programs include Medical Respite, Permanent Supported Housing, Behavioral Health, and Shelter and Temporary Housing. ShelterCare's Medical Respite (SMR) program provides those experiencing homelessness with a safe place to recover after experiencing a major medical trauma. This facility is in need of a new metal fence that will fully surround the property and protect those staying there.

Questions?

  • What can I expect on October 4?

First, starting at 5pm we will have an amazing time of worship, followed by an opportunity to come forward and place your gift in a basket at the front of the stage. After a prayer over our offering, we will dismiss for a phenomenal dinner. We talk about it all year long! We will sit together in the Fellowship Hall to eat dinner and an amazing dessert!

  • When can I give?

You can give starting now! The deadline to give is October 31.

  • How much goes to the organizations?

100%. The meal is completely paid for outside of the Harvest Offering funds, so everything collected goes directly back to the organizations.

  • How do you decide the organizations?

There is a Leadership Team that reviews the organizations nominated by the church. Then an approved group of organizations is sent an application to submit. Once applications are submitted, the Harvest Offering Leadership Team reviews and approves the official recipient organizations. Typically, we approve qualified organizations with current projects seeking funding and who have not been a Harvest Offering Recipient more than two consecutive years.
